Speaking to the newsmen on Tuesday, former Orlando Pirates midfielder Oupa Manyisa has declared his intention to permanently retire from football. He claimed he was coerced into playing football and never enjoyed it.

Disclosing this on Tuesday, the 35-year-old stated he has realized that his football career has come to an end in an interview with Lorenz Kohler, a sports journalist for iDiskiTimes. He said realizing that he has no more future and interest in football as a career has brought him happiness.

Many believed that Oupa’s football career came to an end when he was transferred from Orlando Pirates to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Manyisa was a successful midfielder for the Orlando Pirates. He moved on, playing for ABC Motsepe League team La Masia before joining Mamelodi Sundowns.

He stated that he disliked football and had no intention of playing it. He also claimed that while his teachers made him play football, he had never desired to.

He continued by saying that he would receive a beating every Wednesday and Friday if his school lost. His uncles were football players, so there was another reason he had to get involved. He made it clear that, because they had treated him well, he wanted to remain with them.
