Toussaint Bashala is a businessman and the owner of the controversial Cape Town nightclub, Saint Champagne Bar and Lounge. His Instagram profile describes him as an entrepreneur, investor, and founder.

His bar made headlines over the last few months from naming and shaming delinquent debtors to the R1m New Year’s Eve table booking and Senegalese-US singer Akon’s no-show for a trio of performances.

Before starting his own business, Toussaint who was then a student used to be a deejay. On finalizing his education as an Industrial Engineer, he approached his brother Patrick Bashala for assistance in creating the successful club, which was initially called All Saints.

In his recent interview, Toussaint Bashala said he worked at various clubs across the city during his years as a student, and when he heard about how lucrative being a club DJ could be and decided to try his hand at the decks.

Saint Champagne Bar and Lounge is the number spot for nightlife in Capetown. The lounge hosts top elites, from politicians and athletes to South African celebrities like AKA, Casper Nyovest, and Bonang, as well as T.I. and Davido.

At Saint Champagne Bar and Lounge the most expensive bottle on the menu, Armand de Brignac Brut Rose, 3L Jeroboam, costs R185 000.

The “Saint of the Saint” himself drinks one of these expensive bottles every once in a while.

His liquor delivery business is also based in Cape Town. Judging by its social media presence, its customers have expensive taste buds too. Champagne, whiskey, and cognac bottles are abundant on their Instagram page.

One alcohol menu that expired in 2020 that was posted on the company’s Instagram page showed bottles of wine priced at R120, Gin priced at R400, and one bottle of whiskey priced at R2000.

Toussaint Bashala is an ambitious entrepreneur who wants to take this place to its pinnacle.
