Braam Shooting: JMPD Metro Cop Shot Dead By SAPS Police Officer Identified As Sibusiso Zikalala

A serious altercation between JMPD Mtero Cop and SAPS Police has left one dead.

An off-duty JMPD officer was gunned down allegedly by a SAPS member outside a nightclub in Braamfontein, Johannesburg ( Gauteng Province ).

The terrifying incident which was recorded on camera showed the moment the officer was shot and killed by his colleague during a serious argument.

According to the information from authorities, the two were off-duty when the shooting took place.

In a video circulating on social media, a man who is believed to be the metro police officer, is seen brandishing a gun and threatening the man inside a vehicle.

Additionally, the armed man can be seen attempting to assault the other man by removing him from the driver’s seat.

Seconds later, gunshots go off, it’s not clear on the video where the shots are coming from.

A second video shows the armed man laying on the ground with a bloody chest.

The motive of the shooting is not yet known as an investigation is going on.

Confirming the incident JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla said the JMPD is aware of the shooting incident that left one their member dead and the department will wait for the final outcome investigation.

“We are aware of the incident and we must also state that the member was acting in his personal capacity during the incident, and the matter is now subject to SAPS and Ipid investigation.

“We will wait for the final outcome of the report,” he said.

A statement released by the JMPD Mtero Cop identified the officer as Sibusiso Zikalala.
