Kaizer Chiefs: Fans expresses dissatisfaction following Eric Mathoho’s departure

Fans’ comments to Kaizer Chiefs experienced defender’s departure from the club state unequivocally that they are dissatisfied with the club’s decision.
The boys vented their frustration and dissatisfaction with the club’s decision to release Mathoho, whose contract with them had expired, via Twitter comments on the club’s official page. The die-hards fans are furious and argue that coach Arthur Zwane must follow Mathoho.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic central defender joined Chiefs in 2012 and will be leaving the Naturena-based DStv Premiership club after 11 years.
Under coach Zwane, the Limpopo-born defender, Mathoho, was denied playing time, and disgruntled supporters believe the Chiefs did not respect him and that he should have played his final game against Cape Town City last weekend.
Fans Reactions…
In its statement, Chiefs thanked the Venda-speaking stopper, Mathoho, as one of the club’s longest-serving players as the 33-year-old looks for a new club.
“One of Kaizer Chiefs’ longest-serving players, Mulomowandau Erick Mathoho, will sadly leave the club as we conclude the 2022-23 DStv Premiership season,” Chiefs said on Thursday.
“Mathoho, 33, joined Chiefs in July 2012 as a 22-year-old from Bloemfontein Celtic, where he spent three seasons.”
The man is definitely respected by Amakhosi supporters as Chiefs are known, with some saying he didn’t deserve such treatment regarding his loyalty.
Mathoho was a key player in former Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter’s combination that clinched league and cup doubles in the 2012/13 and 2014/15 seasons.

“We need to slow down a little bit…Mathoho didn’t play for Chiefs for free…He got paid so we can’t go on as if he played for free.”
With the former Bafana Bafana defender attracting all the attention and comments in football circles, speculation is that he might reunite with ex-Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt at SuperSport United.
At the same time, reports reveal that his handler Basia Michaels could find him a new football home at TS Galaxy, a club owned by Tim Sukazi who is Mathoho’s former representative.
