Mary Alice Death – Legendary Actress, Mary Alice Smith Reportedly Dead

Information making rounds the social media has it that award-wining and Former American film, television, and stage actress, Mary Alice has sadly passed away. She was reported to have died today July 27, 2022.

Circumstances surrounding her death have not been made known to the public as no official statement has been released by her family.

Alice rose to the limelight of entertainment through her roles as Leticia “Lettie” Bostic on NBC’s A Different World (1987–1989) and Effie Williams in the 1976 musical drama Sparkle.

In 1987, the stage version of August Wilson’s Fences earned Alice a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in the play.

She made her cinematic debut in The Education of Sonny Carson in 1974, and she later made appearances on Police Woman and Sanford and Son.

Alice co-starred in A Different World as Leticia “Lettie” Bostic from the beginning of the series in 1987 to the completion of the second season in 1989. During the middle of the 1980s, Alice portrayed Ellie Grant Hubbard on the serial opera All My Children.

I’ll Fly Away earned Mary Alice an Emmy Award in 1993 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Her other film credits include Malcolm X (1992), The Inkwell (1994), and Down in the Delta (1998).
