Increase in fuel price, farmers laments, seeks government intervention

Published

South African farmers are beckoning the government to intervene in the rising cost of fuel within the country.

As we know that an increase in fuel price has affected the production cost thereby creating an unusual increase in the prices of commodities and this will directly or indirectly affect the consumers.

Speaking on this matter, the AgriSA executive Director, Christo Van Dar Rheede stated that there is a need for an urgent intervention from the government towards the increasing price of fuel in the country.

In his words:

“We have to survive on the diesel rebate that government provides,” he said.

“Increasing that will bring much-needed relief and enable farmers to expand the hectares that they are expected to plant.”
