Winona Judd and Brandi Carlile gave an astonishing performance at Naomi Judd: A River Of Time Celebration. Wynonna and Brandi sang, “the Rose!” This must be a great tribute song to Naomi Judd.
With warm, resonating vocal harmonies and passionate delivery, Carlile and Judd charmed the crowd at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Judd fought to hold back tears as she performed one of her parts, and she went to the band to request that they play that portion again.
After being part of the Judds combo for four decades, Wynonna walked the stage alone for Sunday’s televised memorial (“Naomi Judd: A River of Time Celebration”) and spoke about the strange nature of the last two weeks.
“I’ve been living my life in public since I was 17 years old.” So being with my chosen family seems natural. “And tonight is a party,” she said. “At the same time, I can’t express how heartbroken I feel.”
Naomi Judd committed herself on April 30 at her home in Leaps Fork, Tennessee, and Ashley Judd confirmed her mother’s death in an interview with “GMA” last week.
“Her brows were still flawless,” Winona said after her mother died.
Naomi’s daughter spoke about how her mother survived childhood traumas such as sexual assault, intimate partner abuse, and other life events to become the lady and singer she is today.
