The police have detained the first suspect in the murder of a former EFF leader’s daughter.

The suspect is an ANC employee, according to information obtained from a credible source.

“The first suspect detained for Hillary Gardee’s murder is an employee of the ANC Chief Whip’s office in Mpumalanga,” says the statement.

On April 29, the 28-year-old daughter of former EFF secretary-general Godrich Gardee went missing from the Mbombela CBD.

Her body was discovered on the roadside, just outside Sabie, four days later.

Since Friday, three arrests have been made by the police and they are expected to face the Nelspruit Magistrates Court on Monday.

“The arrest of an employee of the Chief Whip’s office in Mpumalanga province, who turns out to be a suspect in the horrible murder of Ms Hillary Gardee, is cause for considerable worry.

This Office supports the protection of women, young girls, and boys, and strongly condemns any acts of violence against the vulnerable, particularly women and children, as well as any acts of GBV+F “a statement from the office said.
