A new statement released by Liverpool revealed that Roberto Firmino will miss Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final match against their opponent Villarreal due to injury.

The new recent development was made known to the public on Monday through the club’s official website.

In their first leg match last week, the Reds thrashed out Villarreal with 2 goals to the Nile. They were able to break down Villarreal’s strong defense thanks to the own goal and a goal from Sadio Mane.

Firmino injured his foot in the FA Cup semi-final triumph against Manchester City last month and is yet to fully recuperate.

The Reds have stated that the Brazilian would travel to Spain with his teammates but will not feature in the match.

“Roberto Firmino will miss Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Villarreal, although Divock Origi is expected to play.”

“Firmino’s foot injury, which he sustained at Wembley last month in the Emirates FA Cup triumph against Manchester City, is continuing to improve.
