Man who allegedly shot a couple in Limpopo claims he saw Hippos

Following the shooting and murder of a couple in Limpopo on Wednesday, a 77-year-old man has been detained.
Reports gathtered stated he fired at a couple fishing along the Mogo River, claiming he mistook them for Hippo.
The suspect is charged with attempted murder and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday in Lephalale.
Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi, a police spokeswoman, said a 38-year-old lady was shot in the leg while her companion managed to flee and seek for help.
“He instantly notified the police and emergency services,” the partner said. The woman was sent to the hospital for medical attention.
The apprehended man said he was firing at hippopotamus . During the arrest, police recovered two rifles, a revolver, a handgun, and two airguns,” Seabi added.
Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, the provincial police commissioner for Limpopo, has urged residents to remain calm and give the police time to investigate.
