Kaylea Titford, a morbidly obese 16-year-old girl, was found deceased at her mother’s home in Newtown, Mid Wales, and her parents have been charged with her death.

According to reports, she suffered from inflammation and infection in extensive areas of ulceration caused by obesity and its complications in a girl with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, and her parents, Alun Titford, 44, and Sarah Lloyd-Jones, 39, allegedly failed to ensure her dietary needs were met and didn’t check she got enough exercise or was in a sanitary state.

Mr. Alun and his wife were been charged with manslaughter by gross negligence and causing or permitting the death of a young or vulnerable person.

They stood in the dock at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court today wearing face masks.

They didn’t make any appeals and simply spoke to confirm their identities, ages, and addresses.

They were given bail, but they are not allowed to contact anyone under the age of 18.

‘While the medical cause of death given by Dr James may be natural, the circumstances surrounding Kaleigh’s death are being investigated by Dyfed-Powys Police,’ said Coroner Graeme in charge of the case Hughes.

‘As a result of those findings, I have grounds to believe Kaleigh’s death was unnatural, in the sense that a natural cause of death can be called unnatural where there is some responsible human participation or contribution to the death.’

On April 14, 2022, Titford and Lloyd-Jones will appear in Mold Crown Court.
