Antonio Rudiger Joining Newcastle Would Be For The Wrong Reason – Ex Chelsea star, Glen Johnson

Former Chelsea star, Glen Johnson has asked Antonio Rudiger to pull back his plan on leaving the Blues to join Premier League rivals, Newcastle United in the summer. According to Glen, if Rudiger finally decides to join Newcastle next summer it will be for the wrong reasons.

Rudiger should stay at Chelsea, according to Johnson, who also feels that if he leaves for Newcastle at the end of the season, it would be for the wrong reasons.

Rudiger’s Chelsea contract will expire at the end of the season, and there has been no movement on extending it, according to reports.

In the past, the Germany international has been connected with Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus, among others.

While in an interactive session with BettingOdds, Johnson spoke about Rudiger’s contract at the Blues and his way forward in the club.

“Yes, I do think it would be a mistake. Without being disrespectful, there would be only one reason why Antonio Rüdiger would be going to Newcastle.

“I think he’s still got a lot to offer. If you are still fighting for titles and going deep in most competitions, why would you look to leave? He’s obviously earning good money now.

“That will continue. No, if he goes to Newcastle right now, it would be for the wrong reasons.”
