Nomakula Kuli, a South African fashion icon, will be laid to rest Wednesday in a private ceremony at her Johannesburg home.

Kuli, 49, died last Wednesday after suffering a seizure on the set of a production.

“It is with deep sorrow and grief that we announce the unexpected death of Nomakula ‘Kuli’ Roberts, our loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt” (49).

“Kuli is survived by her two children, adored grandson, parents, and three siblings.

Tembela and Laeun, her two children, her granddaughter, her three siblings, including actress Hlubi Mboya Arnold, and her parents survive her.

The private ceremony, which will be live broadcast from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., will be the last opportunity for Kuli’s relatives and friends to say their goodbyes before she is transferred to her last resting place.

Both the Roberts and the Mboya families have expressed gratitude to SA for the outpouring of affection they have received since Kuli’s passing, stating they are “truly grateful for the enormous support from across the country over the past few days.”

The burial ceremony comes after an emotional tribute service for her life that took place at the Birchwood Hotel on Wednesday.

Former Trending SA anchors Nina Hastie and Shaka Sisulu were in charge of the memorial, with Nina claiming that Kuli would not have wanted a “traditional memorial.”

Kuli’s two children wrote a letter to Hlubi Mboya-Arnold, calling this moment in their life “the worst.”

She also begged that people accept her sister’s death and not hold grudges, as Kuli would not want anybody to be left with regrets.
