Senegal forward, Sadio Mane has finally spoken up on his miss penalty that saw his team draw in regular time during their AFCON Final 2021 tournament against Egypt.

The Egyptian goalkeeper, Gabaski stunned his country after saving Sadio Mane’s penalty awarded to them in the first half of the match.

According to Mane during a post-match chat with the press, his missed first penalty was a big blow to him.

He also revealed what his teammates told him after Egypt’s Gabaski saved his penalty.

After Egypt had missed two of their attempts in the AFCON final, the Liverpool star gathered the guts to come up and score the game-winning goal for Senegal.

Mane claimed his Senegal teammates encouraged him to keep going in his post-match news conference, adding that he had done too much for them.

“However, my teammates approached me and told me, ‘Sadio, we lose together and win together.’ We recognize you. Keep on, you’ve done too much for us.’

“I think it made a difference when I received the second one because it made me stronger.”

“All the lads came up to me and said, ‘Sadio, we trust you,’ which boosted my confidence.

He stated, “The trophy belongs to the entire Senegal squad; everyone deserves it.”
