The brutal killing of Hedley James Brown, a KZN statesman and midland cattle farmer in Kwazulu-Natal, has caused grief to the entire community and his family.

Unidentified assailants murdered the man in his 70s, and his body was discovered by his staff near his property in Howick.

A crew was deployed on Monday morning to cope with a “farm assault,” according to Midlands Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

“On arrival, it was discovered that one person had died as a result of their injuries and had been tied up outside the home in the garden.” Paramedics on the spot pronounced the patient dead.

“Every local government official was present. The reason for the incident is being investigated by local authorities,” said Midlands EMS.

Brown was once from Amanzimtoti on the south coast, where he was a renowned local rugby player.

“Our Terrier Hearts are crushed today,” the Amanzimtoti Rugby Club wrote on Facebook. We are heartbroken to learn that Hedley James Brown, a Toti rugby icon, was murdered in another senseless farm murder over the weekend.”

The news of Brown’s death, according to another community member, surprised and shook the town.

“Every local government official was present. Local authorities are investigating the incident’s cause,” Midlands EMS stated.
