Xolile Nqatha, the Eastern Cape’s Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) has criticized an incident in which a councilor from the Amathole district municipality was pulled from her office.

Armed men were seen on camera dragging Nanziwe Rulashe from her workplace, kicking and shouting.

Five individuals have been detained, including two security officers from the area.

By Monday afternoon, videos of the incident had gone viral on social media. The incident occurred shortly after a tense strategic planning meeting at their headquarters, according to Rulashe.

Two guys and a lady told her to leave her office. She resisted and was dragged away. Later in the film, two security personnel can be seen.

“The most distressing aspect of this film is a woman in charge of a case of gender-based violence and femicide against another woman. “This act has humiliated the department,” Nqatha remarked.

His office stated that he has written to the municipality’s administration, demanding a report outlining the actions that will be taken to guarantee that all individuals implicated are held responsible.

The ANC in the Eastern Cape condemned the attack, stating it “strongly condemns the repugnant and violent crime.”
