East London bus crash today: Many injured after a double-decker bus smashed into an appliance store in Higham’s Park

A representative for the London Ambulance Service said a number of individuals were wounded in a bus collision in east London this morning around 8:19 a.m.

Several emergency teams have been dispatched to the location, After the truck slammed into the structure in Higham’s Park, East London, paramedics raced to the site.

The 212 bus collided with the On Appliances store at approximately 8 a.m. this morning, injuring numerous people.

After the incident on Selwyn Avenue in Chingford, emergency services were dispatched.

The bus driver had to be cut free from his vehicle and was brought to the hospital.

“At around 8.20 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, officers were alerted to complaints of a bus colliding with a business in Selwyn Avenue, E4”, said a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman.

“Officers are on the scene, as well as London Ambulance Service. A number of individuals have been injured and are receiving treatment on the spot.

“Around the intersection of Selwyn Avenue and Winchester Road, road restrictions are still in effect.

“The investigation into the events is still underway.”

As paramedics treated many victims at the scene, the front of the business seemed to be largely demolished.

“We are on-scene and treating a number of people at an incident on The Broadway in Highams Park, E4”, a London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

“A bus has crashed with a structure.” Crews are collaborating closely with other authorities, and we will provide further details as soon as possible.”

 

“We’re collecting information regarding a traffic incident on Selwyn Avenue #Chingford involving a bus,” Waltham Forest Council wrote.

 

“Emergency services are on the scene; if you are in the neighborhood, please be patient.” We’ll keep you updated as additional information becomes available.”

“Crews made the site safe and conducted a thorough search of the structure to ensure no further victims were trapped.”

“We would encourage people to avoid the area surrounding the intersection of Selwyn Avenue and Winchester Traffic because there are local road restrictions in place.”

 

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, expressed his condolences to everyone affected by the “awful” tragedy.

“I’ve got reports of a bus slamming into a building in Highams Park in Waltham Forest this morning,” he tweeted.

“Emergency services are currently on the scene-we will share more information as soon as we have it. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this terrible incident.”
