Who Was Sean Rice? Few Things You Need To Know About Him!

Sean Rice, a Canadian pair skater who also competed in the fours, was born on July 20, 1972. He is a two-time (1993, 1995) Canadian pairs bronze medalist and four-time (1993–1996) Canadian fours champion with Jodeyne Higgins.

Higgins and Rice earned bronze in the 1992 Nebelhorn Trophy and the 1993 Canadian Nationals while competing in pairs. They were sent to the 1993 World Championships, where they finished in tenth place.

The couple had a less successful season the next year. They came in sixth place in Nationals and were not invited to Worlds. They earned a second trip to Worlds after winning bronze at the 1995 Canadian Championships, where they finished 14th. The duo did not compete in Nationals again, although they did win bronze at the 1995 Skate Canada International.

Higgins and Rice won gold medals in fours at the Canadian Championships with Scott MacDonald and Alison Purkiss (1994–1996) and Jodi Barnes and Rob Williams (1994–1996). (1993). Janice Yeck and Scott MacDonald earned the 1992 bronze medal, while Melissa Shields and Trevor Buttenham won the 1997 silver medal.

Higgins and Rice traveled professionally on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines after retiring from competitive skating. Rice paired with British TV broadcaster Angela Rippon on ITV1’s Dancing on Ice in 2011. Rice teamed up with Chemmy Alcott, a British Olympic skier, in 2012.
