According to authorities and family, a kid who had just started working at a Manhattan Burger King — and had wanted off the late shift due to her fear — was tragically shot in the stomach for $100 early Sunday.

Around 1 a.m., an armed robber entered the restaurant on 116th Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem and pistol-whipped a male patron before hitting a female manager in the face, according to police.

According to her mother, tragic clerk Kristal Bayron-Nieves, 19, gave the thief money from the drawer, according to an eyewitness. According to the witness, the culprit then turned to leave but twisted back and shot Bayron-Nieves in the torso.

According to the victim’s family, the killer got away with only $100.

According to detectives, the adolescent was rushed to Metropolitan Hospital and pronounced dead a short time afterwards.

According to a police source, “she didn’t deserve to be plowed down while working at a Burger King.”

Bayron-Nieves’ family said she had only been working at the fast-food restaurant for three weeks and had already requested improved security and a shift change because she was concerned about her safety.

“She is just 19, and she has more than 50 homeless people sleeping in front of the business,” the victim’s mother, Kristie Nieves, 36, said via a translator, friend Nathalie Pagan, in Spanish.

Nieves is conflicted since she persuaded her daughter to continue working.

“On Friday, [Kristal] says, ‘I don’t want to go.’ “I’m afraid,” the grieving mother confessed. “‘You have to go and be responsible,’ I say. At ten o’clock p.m., ‘You have to go,’ I tell her as I rouse her awake. You must be accountable. ‘You need to improve your life.’

“She feels bad about it,” Pagan added. That’s what she said earlier when I asked whether she felt sorry for waking her up to go.”

Bayron-Nieves had a youthful admirer, according to Pagan, who came to see her virtually every night at the restaurant and always brought her a flower. When she was slain, the young man was present.
