Harold Watson “Trey” Gowdy III, an American television news presenter, former politician, and former federal prosecutor, was born on August 22, 1964, and served as the United States Representative for South Carolina’s 4th congressional district from 2011 to 2019.
His district encompassed much of South Carolina’s Upstate, including Greenville and Spartanburg.
He is the anchor of FOX News Channel’s (FNC) Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy (Sundays, 7 p.m./ET) and FOX News Audio’s The Trey Gowdy Podcast. In January 2019, Mr. Gowdy became a contributor to the network.

He was also the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations on the Judiciary Committee. He was a key figure in the Benghazi and Russia investigations, two of the most important congressional probes in the previous decade.
Mr. Gowdy is a former state and federal prosecutor with extensive trial experience.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina.
