To save his house from becoming ‘bewitched,’ a relative chokes and buries a 10-year-old child in Nyezane KwaZulu Natal

On Christmas Day, the body of a 10-year-old missing kid was discovered in a shallow grave at a relative’s home.

While speaking on the matter, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, a police spokeswoman, said Ayabulela Abongwe Kubheka, 10, of Nyezane, went missing on December 15, 2021, at 7 p.m., while in the care of his grandmother, who had left him in bed to cook up dinner.

Reports say the late Ayebulela’s grandmother returned to her grandson, however, he has vanished, and she reported him missing to the Amangwe Police Station for inquiry.

According to Mbele, Ayabulela’s uncle was outdoors at 6 a.m. on December 25, 2021, when a dog was sighted with a human limb in its jaws. He went to investigate after noticing the dogs digging in his neighbour’s yard.

“During his investigation, he uncovered a shallow grave and enlisted the help of local residents to dig it up. “They discovered Ayabulela’s body and summoned the cops,” Mbele claimed.

“A 32-year-old relative and neighbour attempted to flee but was arrested by the community. The guy allegedly informed the community that he choked the youngster to death because he needed his corpse to save his house from being cursed. He buried him in his yard in a shallow grave.”

Mbele said the guy was apprehended and charged with murder at the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

For additional investigation, he was detained in police prison until January 6, 2022.

“The community should be commended for not taking the law into their own hands and assaulting the suspect instead of contacting the police.” Those who continue to engage in vigilantism will face the full force of the law, according to Mbele.
