EPL: Not A Good Performance – What Virgil Van Dijk About Their Match Against Leicester City

Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk says their performance in their yesterday’s EPL match against Leicester City was nothing to write home about.

The Dutchman thinks they did not play as expected, not a good performance.

At the King Power Stadium, Liverpool was defeated 1-0 by Leicester City, with Mohamed Salah’s penalty saved and his rebound header hitting the crossbar.

Sadio Mane, a Senegalese attacker, had a handful of chances before Ademola Lookman’s lone score punished Jurgen Klopp’s team.

With the defeat, their second of the season, Liverpool now sit six points behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Van Dijk told the BBC,

“I think we were poor in the last third…not a good performance.

“We created good chances but unfortunately today wasn’t the day it went in the back of the net. Penalty miss, which happens. But it’s disappointing.

“But we had moments we reacted and created chances to do better. You have to give them credit as well.”

Speaking on the Premier League title race, Van Dijk added:

“What can we say? We’re in December. The season is so, so long. Anything can happen.

“You have seen it with Covid and injuries – lots of things can change. There’s no point looking at [Manchester City] or Chelsea or the other teams around us.”
