Who Was Candy Palmater? Few Things You Need To Know About Her!

Born in 1968 in Point La Nim, New Brunswick, Candy Palmater was a well known Candian comedian and broadcaster who created and wrote her own national TV show for APTN, The Candy Show”. Palmater also hosted the daily interview series The Candy Palmater Show on CBC Radio One in summer 2016.

Candy Palmater went to St. Thomas University in Fredericton after high school and then Maritime Business College for a legal secretary’s course.

She was motivated by Donald Marshall Jr.’s legal failures and enrolled at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to study law at Schulich School of Law, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1999.

She was president of the Dalhousie Aboriginal Law Students Association and the first Aboriginal law student in Canada to be valedictorian of her graduating class.

She took a position with the now-defunct legal firm Patterson Palmer Hunt Murphy, but quickly realized she didn’t want to practice corporate law, so she quit and went to work for the Nova Scotia Department of Education.

Candy Palmater had at the beginning of this month made a post about her 53rd birthday which was to be today. She said the idea of such a catastrophic change in my life is hard to get my head around.

On Saturday I will be 53. That is the same age Aloyse Palmater was when Billy died. Now that I am at this age, the idea of such a catastrophic change in my life is hard to get my head around. Billy was the leader of all their social activities, heck he was the leader of our whole family.

And those two were IN LOVE like teenagers. James was only 16, Vicky was 21 and having a hard time. After 30 years she was on her own. I’m not sure about the rest of my family but I was so wrapped up in my own loss of him, I don’t think I really thought about what Aloyse was going through. She survived it. She now has 5 beautiful grandkids and she’s still our Al, but I just wanted to say sister in law…if maybe 25 years late…I’m thinking of you and all you lost.
