After testing positive for Covid-19, President Cyril Ramaphosa has completed a week of self-isolation, his office said on Monday.

He appreciated “all South Africans, leaders, and friends across the world” who had sent him well wishes since the test result on December 12, and hoped individuals who had been afflicted with the coronavirus “a safe and rapid recovery.

Ramaphosa has returned to duty, according to Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele, and will lead the final cabinet meeting for 2021 on Wednesday.

The President reiterates his plea for everyone in the country to be safe by getting vaccinated, using face masks, routinely washing or sanitizing hands, keeping a social distance, and avoiding gatherings,” Gungubele added.
