After ‘crashing his car into a lamppost,’ UK Tory MP Jamie Wallis has been detained

Following a car accident last month, a UK Conservative MP was detained on suspicion of ‘driving while ill.

Jamie Wallis, who represents Bridgend in Wales, claimed he was ‘assisting police with their investigations on a crash that happened on November 28.

In the early hours of the morning on Church Road in Llanblethian, a rural village near to the market town of Cowbridge, a vehicle collided with a light post.

There were no reported injuries in the accident, which involved only one car and occurred at around 1.10 a.m., according to a spokesperson for South Wales Police.

Mr Wallis was freed on the condition that he be examined.’

‘Jamie was involved in an accident and is supporting police with their investigations,’ said a spokeswoman for Mr Wallis.

‘He will not be talking further while this is continuing.’

Mr Wallis, who was elected to Parliament in 2019, was just found to be positive for Covid-19.
