Information that surfaced on the internet a few hours ago confirmed that a buzzing South African young artiste in Tzaneen Ga Mothopa, Lil Meri passed away unexpectedly at the age of 22. The news of his death came as a shock to fans who never expected to hear such heartbreaking

As confirmed by his manager, RELELA-Bolobedu Amadamara singer Samuel Maritus Malatji popularly known by his stage name as Lil Meri died following a short illness.

In an interview with LolahM his manager “Professor” confirmed the sad news. He boldly said that Lil Merry succumbed to a short illness just an hour ago.

“The famous “Ke ngwana wa motho” hit maker, @Lil Meri met his death few hours ago.”

Lil Meri took the music industry by storm with his single hits ” Ke ngwana wa Motho and Melomo ya batho”.

The news of his passing came when the whole Balobedu Nation is still shocked by the incident that happened of another musician and producer Dr Rackzen being involved in a car accident and is reported to be in a critical stage and as Balobedu, Limpopo and the whole country we are holding our hands to his speedy recovery.

Born in the early 2000s in a small village of Ga-Motupa in the Northern part of South Africa, Samuel Maritus Malatji popularly known by his stage name as Lil’Merry Mathopa did not get the much attention he needed in the SA entertainment industry but he kept pushing hard to achieve success.

He rose to fame way back in 2019 after releasing his viral song his hit song “Ngwana Motho (I’m Someone’s child too” which gained thousands of streams from the digital platforms.

His memorable songs include the Hit of the decade Ngwana wa Motho, which was nominated for many awards including the Limpopo Music Awards and Sepedi Music Awards.

Lil Meri Arrest In 2019…

In 2019, Lil Meri was allegedly arrested by SANDF for being in possession of a South Africa National Defence Force uniform.

It said that the police and members of SANDF found Lil Mery at one of the petrol stations in Tzaneen then took him to Bolobedu South where the uniform was allegedly found.

It is alleged that the members of SANDF became aware of the uniform through Facebook posts, fortunately enough he was released a few days later on free bale as that was his first offence.

After the SANDF Saga, he released a hit song BA RETSWARISA, Translating (They are getting us arrested) a song that took bolobedu music industry by storm.

In 2020 Lil meri released other his songs like THIPA (Knife) and Melemo (Mouths), these two songs help shape his musical career as they earned him some big gigs and Thipa has been number 5 on the top 30 charts on Thobela FM.

What Was Lil Meri Cause Of Death?

No official information has been released by his family or management that led to the sudden demise of Lil Meri but sources said he passed away after a short illness (Undisclosed).
