Winning The Ballon d’Or Have Been One Of My Childhood Dreams – Benzema

Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema has spoken on what the Ballon D’Or award means to him. Benzema in an interview with local media said he had dreamt of winning the all talked Ballon D’Or when he was a kid.

Benzema was named among the 30-man shortlist for the 2021 Ballon D’Or following his fine form.

The 33-year-old finished as the second top scorer in LaLiga last season and currently leads the Spanish top-flight’s goals and assist charts.

He also said that he thinks about winning the Ballon d’Or just like his idols, Ronaldo and Zidane did when they came to Real Madrid.

Speaking to Canal+ Benzema in his words said: “Win the Ballon d’Or? Yes, that would be one of the many dreams I have had since childhood. Of course, I dreamed of it as a kid.

“My idols, whether it’s R9 [Ronaldo] or Zizou [Zidane], came to Real Madrid and won the Ballon d’Or. And that’s one of the little things I think about. Today, I’m not far from it.”
