Tottenham Frees Serge Aurier, His Contract With The Club Terminated

It has been officially confirmed that Ivorian striker, Serge Aurier has exited the Tottenham Hotspur club following the termination of his contract a year early.

Recall that Serge had some time ago made it clear that he wanted to leave this summer after the club told him he has no future at the club but Spurs couldn’t finalise a deadline day sale for the defender.

Aurier, who joined Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, played 110 times for the north London side, scoring eight goals.

While reacting on the move, Aurier through a statement released on the club’s website thanked fans and supporters who by him during his services in the club.

“I have really enjoyed my time at Spurs and would like to thank the club and the fans, but I feel now is the right time for me to move onto a new challenge,” Aurier said.

Earlier in the window, Aurier was linked with a move to Barcelona as part of talks over Tottenham’s pursuit of right-back Emerson Royal but instead the Brazilian moved to North London for around £25.73m (€30m).
