Japanese Actor, Sonny Chiba Dies At 82

Well-known Japanese actor, Shinchi Chiba popularly known by his stage name as Sonny Chiba has sadly passed away at the age of 82. The Japanese actor and martial artist wasreported to have died on August 19 2021 in Chiba Prefecture Kimitsu hospital for pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus.

According to information provided to newsmen, Mr Chiba was admitted to a hospital on August 8 because pneumonia caused by the new corona worsened. He was in a state of continuing oxygen inhalation but unfortunately succumbed to the illness.

Born in Fukuoka, Japan, Mr Chiba was the third of five children in the family of a military test pilot. When he was four years old, his father was transferred to Kisarazu, Chiba, and the family moved to Kimitsu, Chiba.

After Chiba went to junior high school in Kimitsu, the physical education teacher advised him to do artistic gymnastics. He also was passionate about track and field sports, baseball, and volleyball.

He participated in those four sports championships of Chiba Prefecture. In high school, Chiba dedicated himself to artistic gymnastics and won the National Sports Festival of Japan while in his third year. He enjoyed watching movies, including Western movies such as Shane and High Noon.
