Mangala Samaraweera the former Sri-lanka Minister of Finance is not dead



Reports coming from Sri Lanka says that Mangala Samaraweera the former Minister of Finance from 2017 to 2019, who was rumored dead yesterday is still much alive.

Mangala was reported to have died after he had complication following reports of him testing positive to covid-19.

The former Minister Mangala Samaraweera tested positive for Covid and has since been undergoing treatment. His condition is stable- Adaderana

Mangala spoke to a fellow True Patriot comrade yesterday saying that the reports of his death has been greatly exaggerated.


Reports say he is still in Intensive Care but his kidneys have healed.

Though he still has COVID pneumonia. Hence he is not totally out of the woods yet.

Reports also coming from his doctor Priyankara Jayawardena has revealed that even though his health condition had tunred critical but he is currently recovering.


Samaraweera entered politics from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party as its chief organiser in Matara in 1983, thereafter becoming the party’s Assistant Secretary and Coordinating Secretary of the Mother’s Front.

He first entered the Parliament of Sri Lanka as a representative of the Matara District in 1989, and he was appointed as Minister of Post and Telecommunications in the cabinet of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in 1994.

He also served as the Minister of Urban Development, Construction and Public Utilities in the same Cabinet after a reshuffle and was later given the Deputy Minister of Finance portfolio.
