Alaska Plane crash: Six comfirmed dead

At least six people have lost their lifes in a plane crash that happened in Alaska.

The reports say, the six passegers aboard a tourist plane died Thursday after the plane crashed in southeast Alaska, the United States Coast Guard said.

Rescue services in the country’s northernmost state responded to an emergency beacon around 11:20 a.m. (local time) eight miles northeast of Ketchikan, Alaska, the coast guard said in a statement.

“An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from the Sitka Coast Guard Air Station located the wreckage at 2:37 pm and dispatched two rescue swimmers who reported there were no survivors,” he added.

The pilot of another helicopter reported sighted debris on a hill , the coast guard said in its report.

The de Havilland Beaver seaplane, was a ship that could be supported by floats in the water, it carried five passengers and the pilot. The Flight, party from Misty Fjords National Monument Park.

The passengers were tourists on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam cruise ship, the company said on Twitter.

“We can confirm that a seaplane carrying five guests from Nieuw Amsterdam was involved in an accident at Ketchikan, and there are no survivors,” he wrote.

“It was an independent tour that Holland America Line did not sell. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims.

Several tour companies offer tours of the fjords around Ketchikan, which are surrounded by lush forests and nearly vertical rock faces. The fjords are extensive narrow valleys, elongated and limited by high mountains that flow into the sea
