YRP Officer Loses His Life In A Tragic Motorcycle Crash

York Regional Police (YRP) officer, Sgt Craig Heatley has reportedly lost his life after a terrible accident. The news of his death was announced to the public by the YRP Chief Jim MacSween in an official statement released through the micro-blogging site (Twitter) on July 25 2021.

From the context of the statment it was reported that Craig and his wife were involved in a terrible motorcycle accident in Meaford, Whilst his wife survived the crash unfortunately Craig died from the severe injuries he sustained from the accident.

It is with great sadness that we share the off-duty passing of YRP Staff Sergeant Craig Heatley.

On July 23, Craig and his wife were involved in a serious motorcycle collision in Meaford. Craig succumbed to his injuries. His wife is in serious but stable condition.

This is a devastating and unexpected loss for all of Craig’s family, friends & and platoon mates.

Craig was a well-respected 31-year YRP veteran, who worked in Criminal Investigations, Academics, Auto Recovery and most recently in #4 District Uniform Patrol.

Craig was both a valued YRP member and dear friend with whom I’ve worked & played hockey. He will be remembered for his jovial personality, sense of humour & passion for policing.

During this difficult time, YRP is working with YRPAca to support Craig’s family and colleagues.
