This is happening amidst the unrest and violent attacks carried out by angry protesters in the country due to the incarceration of former President Jacob Zuma.
Meanwhile, the unrest in the country has drawn the attention of Julius Malema who through his Twitter page described the approach used by the govt to curb the situation as ineffective, he said that they will join the protesters if the govt refuses to use the political approach in bringing a solution to the current situation in the country.
“No soldiers on our streets! Otherwise, we are joining” – Julius Malema slammed govt idea of involving SANDF in bringing the social unrest in some parts of the country to control.
The South African politician and activist who is a Member of Parliament and the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters said this on Monday through his Twitter page describing the idea as a bad one, he said that if the govt decides not to take a political approach as a solution to the current unrest they will join the protesters on the street.
“No soldiers on our streets! Otherwise, we are joining. All fighters must be ready… they won’t kill us all. We need a political solution to a political problem, not soldiers.#NoToSoldiers”
The EFF leader has taken subtle shots at leaders in the country, asking where they are and if they are scared of their people.
Malema at the weekend took to Twitter to weigh in on the deployment of the SA Police Service (SAPS) and the potential deployment of theSA National Defence Force (SANDF), saying they shouldn’t be the first call.
