CBC Montreal’s David Blair Has Passed Away


It has been confirmed on social that CBC Montreal’s David Blair has sadly passed away at the age of 56. David Blair was reported to have died over the weekend and circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known at the time of filing this report.

Blair was a broadcaster with Radio Canada International and CBC Radio for many years and also an alumnus of CKUT Radio in Montreal.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Blair graduated with a marketing degree from the University of Manitoba.

After his graduation, he worked in several companies before moving to Montreal for a greener pasture. In 1995 Blair joined Radio-Canada International and started off as a business reporter for CBC Radio One. For many years he hosted Business Sense, a weekly program that looked at how Canadian companies were shaping the global economy.

In 2008, Blair began working as a business reporter for CBC Radio One. From the CBC studios in Montreal, he joined morning programs across Canada, providing audiences with the latest economic news.

Blair was one of the co-founders of the Montreal chapter of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (today called NLGJA – The Association of LGBTQ Journalists). He worked to foster fair and accurate coverage of LGBTQ issues in local newsrooms.

He left behind his beautiful wife, Mathieu Jolicœur, and sons Mark and John.
