Spain striker, Alvaro Morata has for the first made an official comment after his penalty loss during the shootout at the Semi-final of Euro 2020 sent his national team home on Tuesday night.

The Juventus star said that even though the team deserved much more but soccer can sometimes be very tough.

Morata came in the second half of play as a substitute to score the goal that equalized the game against Italy who was earlier leading with one goal but saw his penalty saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Morata stated this in an official Instagram post made via the IG page.

Through His Instagram Page, Morata Wrote:- This group deserved more, much more. Like all of Spain, it was also my dream, our dream. I can only say that I am proud to have been part of this team. To those who have believed in us, THANK YOU. Soccer can sometimes be very tough. Long live Spain.

Also reacting to the outcome of the match, veteran defenders, Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique in a series of tweets said they are proud of the team and their resilience in the tournament.

Ramos tweeted, “Sad and unfair. It could not be, but you have made a whole country vibrate and get excited. Proud of our selection”

Pique said, “I feel very proud. To reach the semi-finals of Euro 2020 has a lot of merits. I don’t think there is a better team in the competition. But penalty shootouts are sometimes very cruel.”
