Multiple shooting in Englewood, 8 shot and 4 fatally wounded

Tension in Englewood as eight people were shot and persons 4 fatally wounded.

The incident happened during a gathering here this morning in the area.

Reports gathered according to CPD said shots were fired after an argument at inside a home on South Morgan Street. South Morgan and 63rd blocked off.

Police said they responded to a call of multiple people shot after 5:30 a.m. in the 6200 block of South Morgan Street. There was an “argument at a gathering” inside a residence and shots were fired, according to police.

They said four people were pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not confirm the fatalities and further details, including the victims’ ages and identities, were not available.

Four other victims were wounded in the shooting and taken to area hospitals, according to police.

A male whose age was not immediately known and a 25-year-old man were both shot in the back of the head, according to police, who said they were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and their conditions were unknown.

A woman whose age was also not known sustained unspecified gunshot wounds and taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition, officials said.

Police said a 23-year-old man was shot in the back and took himself to St. Bernard Hospital but was later transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition.

Police blocked off Morgan Street north of 63rd Street as authorities remain on the scene and continue to investigate.
