India’s Flying Milkha Singh reportedly dies at the age 91

A popular Indian 91-year-old sprinter known as Milkha Singh has been reported dead.

Milkha was reported to have been admitted to Chandigarh hospital few days ago in an ICU ward, sources reported that he died after his oxygen level went down.

Reports gathered said he was discharged from Fortis hospital located in Mohali last month after he was reported covid-19 negative, fews days later his health got complicated and he was finally admitted to Covid Hospital in PGI after oxygen just fell.

Milkha Singh was born on 20 November 1929 into the family of the Rajput of Rathore clan. His birthplace was Govindpura, a village from Muzaffargarh city in Punjab Province, British India (now Muzaffargarh District, Pakistan).

He is the only Indian athlete to win Gold in the 400m at the Asian as well as the Commonwealth Games.

He represented his country in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne and in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome.

Milhka has led the race till the 200m marks before he retired from racing.

The popular journalist has described him as “the finest athlete India has ever produced”.

Doctors in Chandigarh has refuted claims that the Indian athlete has died.

In the latest report released by outlook, a popular Indian online magazine said the doctors were forced to issue an update on Saturday.

The doctor PIGMER in a medical report said that sick athlete Milkha is still alive and getting better and since has been in a more stable condition.

“On the basis of all the medical parameters today i.e. 5th June 2021, his condition has been observed better than yesterday,” the hospital said.

Even sports minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted and urged that fake news should be stopped from spreading. “Please don’t run false news and create rumours,” the minister urged.
