Referee Shaun Olive one of the popular assistant referee refs of the Premier Soccer League has sadly passed away. Reports gathered said that the reigning Assistant Referee of the Year was involved in a serious car accident.
The reports also said Shaun was in a serious condition following the incident on Tuesday in Johannesburg and was in desperate need of financial support for medical procedures.
The assistant referee requested funds to enable him to undergo the necessary surgery procedures following his freak accident.
On Saturday morning, the league confirmed the passing of the official.

The Premier Soccer League is saddened by the passing of 2019/20 PSL assistant referee of the season, Shaun Olive.
The league sends heartfelt condolences to the Olive family, South African Football Association (SAFA) and the football fraternity at large.
The PSL will observe a moment of silence in honour of Shaun Olive ahead of this weekend’s Nedbank Cup, DStv Premiership, Diski Challenge and GladAfrica Championship fixtures.
Olive has been a standard feature in the local season over recent years.
He has crowned the 2019/20 Premier Soccer League Assistant Referee of the Season.
Olive has already acted as either a first assistant or a fourth official in over 40 matches in both the DStv Premiership and GladAfrica Championship so far this season.
