|Real Name:||Kuhle Adams|
|Birth Place:||Port Elizabeth, South Africa|
|Profession:||TV Presenter, Youtuber|
Who Is Kuhle Adams?
Kuhle Adams is a 23year-old who has always dreamed of being a TV presenter.
She is from South Africa, she has worked as a Youtuber and as a production assistant but ultimately her goal was to be in front of a TV camera.
Raised in Port Elizabeth by her mother and her big immediate family, Kuhle graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Social Science.
Kuhle entered Presenter Search on 3 as she saw it as an opportunity to catapult her career to new heights.
She was a crowd favourite from the beginning of her Presenter Search on 3 journeys and earned her place in the Top 10 as the Viewers’ Choice Finalist.
She describes herself as being on the Top 10 as, “The second coming of sorts because I knew that I had to work harder than everyone else who was already chosen to be in the Top 10, but overall I was excited knowing that the viewers themselves voted me in.”
Kuhle’s authenticity, professionalism, vibrancy and ease in front of the camera was a winning combination and on the 30th October 2019, she was crowned as the winner of Presenter Search on 3 and joined the Expresso family. “I’ve been warned about the hard work that is ahead, about the early mornings and the late nights… but I’m SO ready,” says Kuhle, who relocate from Johannesburg to Cape Town for her dream job.
Kuhle Adams started her career as a TV Shows Actress. She then presented a number of TV shows. she hosted Expresso Show on Youtube.
She is a graduate of the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor degree in Social Science.
Shows At Expresso
Kuhle alongside her friend and presenter Jamie Lee has made an appearance on Expresso during the competition and at that time after their win was their first official day as Expresso’s new presenters i.e. their paycheques start on 1 November that year.
They opened the show with Graeme Richards who was very gushy about them of course, squeezing Jamie-Lee until her head almost popped off, and then they hosted as hosts do.
The duo were mostly together, sometimes apart and didn’t look as if they’d had a sleepless night last night.
This is obviously because of all the coffee they need to drink! The presenters clearly have to like coffee a lot to host on the show because every five minutes everyone’s getting coffee from that advertorial McCafé bar or huge cup.
Ever since her winning the Presenter Search On 3, Expresso TV host Kuhle Adams has revealed how she navigates fulfilling her duties amid a whole pandemic and why she wants an end to Gender Based Violence (GBV) in SA.
Kuhle Adams Interviews And Challenges
In an interview with TshisaLIVE, Kuhle explained the challenges she faced last year, saying she was fortunate enough to still be able to work.
“My journey has been good, however, a bit challenging. It [presenting gig] had just fallen at a time of a global pandemic, so we’re all just trying to figure our way around all of that.
“The challenge I faced mainly was trying to find my feet in a global pandemic which has proven very difficult as most of the work requires us to be in the public, to be out there socialising and be in public spaces and all lot of that hasn’t been happening due to lockdown restrictions.”
Kuhle explained that for most of 2020 she was just trying to learn as much as she could about the craft while trying not to contract the virus.
“So, now I think it’s a time where I’m trying to figure it all out — to kind re-find my feet again and find a balanced sort of. Because this year, I think I am officially in the industry seeing that I won the competition towards the end of 2019.”
Kuhle said this year she plans to re-introduce herself to the entertainment industry.
“That’s why I am saying this year is a way of re-introducing myself into the industry. I was on TV every day last year, I was a part of the lockdown crew — what the company did was operate on a skeleton capacity so we had to follow regulation in terms of no more than 50 people in the studio so I was one of those people who had to go to work every day during a pandemic.
“But I think for me, my love and appreciation of what I do were kind of solidified because in a time of confusion and a time of people losing their jobs, we as the Expresso presenters were offered the opportunity to continue to work and bring hope as well as information to many during this confusing time of a pandemic.”
Kuhle also briefly touched on GBV and how her mother nearly died at the hands of her father.
“My mom was almost a victim of femicide because my father was extremely abusive — emotionally and very much physically — so there’s that trauma that my siblings experienced with him. But I didn’t grow up with my father in the same household.
“I draw a lot of my inspiration from my mum and siblings just that they have overcome so much in their lives and have managed to be okay with it and still succeed in their respective ways. My mother has taught us a lot about GBV and when it’s the right time to leave especially the moment a man raises his hand.”
