Maskandi Artiste, Majotha Zungu Has Passed Away

Tributes pour in following the death of popular Maskandi artiste, Majotha Zungu. The SABC crown gospel music awards 2017 nominee was reported to have died today May 7 2021. Though circumstances surrounding his death is not yet known, information on social media has it that uMajotha Zungu passed away in the early hours of today.

Zungu’s popularity grew in 2015 after releasing his hit song “Thul’ungasho, Mina sengiqomile”.

The 33-year-old singer who is from Yengweni KwaMaphumulo in North-eastern KwaZulu-Natal has long struggled with music to be successful.

Born to Mr Mkhweli Jikijel Emaweni Zungu and Mrs Vekashile Zungu, Majotha completed his matric at Banguni Secondary School in KwaDukuza.

At school, he has already tagged a celebrity, during recess Majotha will be asked by students to sing songs by different artists.

He has worked with many top-notch artists in South Africa including the Lion of the Forest, 88, Sgwebo Sentambo and Makhabzela.

In 2009 he decided to take up music as a career which prompted him to learn guitar. In 2010 Majotha released his first demo.

Before then he was working for a company called Ndonzonke Trading which focused on installing store cabinet but things were not going through as he expected.

In 2012 he released his debut album “The Trouble of the Army” under Ndozonke Music Production, which was owned by his older brother, Bhekisisa Zungu. Following the success of the studio album, Majotha in 2013 released “Mxit” and “Professional” alongside a single “Thula Ungasho in 2014.

He exited Ndozonke music and decided to work with Ndalule Music Production in Johannesburg in 2015 and under the record label he released “Nonsense” and Obhuthu Engibahlalang”.
