MMA Fighter, Fau Vake Dies At 24

The Mixed Martial arts community woke up to the death news of top fighter, Fau Vale. Fau Vake reportedly passed away on May 20 21 at the age of 24.

According to sources, Fau died from the injuries he sustained after an alleged assault in New Zealand. Reports say the MMA star was attacked by four men on May 19 2021 while he waiting to board a taxi.

Israel Adesanya Reacts

Yesterday night boxing champion, Israel Adesanya made a statement yesterday about Fau’s incident saying “coward punchers” needed to be punished harder for such acts. “I am distraught. My gym brother may die because of the gutless actions of these men,” Adesanya said.

The news of his death was announced to the public through an official statement from the City Kickboxing.

“It is with inexplicable sadness almost seven days to the hour after his hospital admission, Fau’s fight to find his way back to us ended,”

“At this tragic time, the Vake family and City Kickboxing ask for time to grieve and reflect on the loss of Fau – a father, a son, and a much-loved brother to us all. We will speak when the time is right to ensure Fau’s loss is not forgotten, but for now please respect our privacy.”

Reports gathered from the city Kickboxing trainer Mike Anogove said the promising mixed martial arts fighter was waiting for a taxi when he was attacked.

Angove spoke to Newstalk ZB today to give an update on Vake after it was revealed yesterday the 25-year-old was left in a critical condition following an assault on Symonds Street in Auckland on Sunday morning.

Angove said Vake, a father of one, was on his way home when the incident happened around 3am.

“I think you should be able to be waiting for a taxi to go home after a night out without being set upon – or allegedly set upon – by a group of people,” Angove said.

Angove said he had been with the Vake family in hospital until around midnight yesterday and that his friend was still fighting for his life.

“There’s no change… and he’s hanging on to life,” Angove said.

Police described how Vake was injured but fellow City Kickboxing fighter and UFC champion Israel Adesanya put out a statement last night saying “coward punchers” needed to be punished harder for such acts.

“I am distraught. My gym brother may die because of the gutless actions of these men,” Adesanya said.

“In the past decade there have been numerous deaths from punches thrown when people are not looking.

“Given the massive publicity these crimes have received, no one is dumb enough to think there is not a serious risk of death.

“There is no excuse, it should be considered attempted murder or murder.”

Four men – three 29-year-olds and a 32-year-old – have been charged over the incident on a number of offences ranging from common assault to injuring with inten.
