Chicano Artist & Actor Adan Hernandez Has Passed Away

It has been confirmed on social media that legendary Chicano Artist Adan Hernandez has sadly passed away. He was reported to have died on May 16 2021. His cause of death or what led to his sad demise is not yet known as at the time of filing this report.

Adan Hernández, Westsider was an iconic artist of the Blood In Blood Out pieces & a profound representation of our Xicanx communities.

His notability springs from his work on Blood In, Blood Out (1993), The Police Officer’s Wife (2013) and ESPN Friday Night Fights (1998).

Reacting to his death Traders Village in a series of tweets via their Twitter page wrote – It is with a very Heavy Heart we share the announcement that our dear friend Adan Hernandez (famed artist from Blood In Blood Out) has passed away. His family has created a GoFundMe page to assist with the family and expenses.

Born on October 15, 1951, Adan Hernandez was an American painter and Chicano artist, one of the seminal figures in San Antonio’s Chicano art movement.

In 1980, when he was almost 30 years old, he attended a painting show by Chicano artist Jesse Treviño. The show rekindled his desire to be an artist and his girlfriend (and later his wife) Debi Fischer convinced him to quit his job to focus on being a serious artist.
