Fire outbreak currently hits an apartment complex in Bangor, fire departments comes to rescue

An apartment complex is currently on fire as multiple area fire departments fight tirelessly to extinguish it.

The fire started at an apartment complex at 11 Center Street Avenue in Bangor.

Smoke is billowing out of the top of the building and can be seen as far as Broadway and surrounding streets.

According to an eyewitness and a resident of the area, Julie Arnold Lisnet said she heard a loud noise around 6:15 p.m. She compared the noise to an explosion.

She quickly saw smoke and ash coming from a nearby building.

It is still unclear what started the fire, which was watched by multiple onlookers.

Along with the Bangor Fire Department, departments from Orono, Holden and Glenburn are assisting.

A dispatcher for the Bangor Fire Department declined to comment.
