Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain Dies from covid-19 complications

Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain has reportedly died during the Maghrib call to prayer or breaking the fast, Monday, at Tabrani Hospital, Jalan Sudirman, Pekanbaru.

“Innalillahi wa innailaihi rooji’un. Has passed away to Rahmatullah Ust. Tengku Zulkarnain. May his acts of worship be accepted by Allah SWT. May the families left behind to be given patience and fortitude,” wrote a message from Karo Public Relations of Riau Province, Chairul Riski, Monday.

Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain died after trying to fight Covid-19 which had been eating away at his body since last week.

Confirming the news was the Director of Corporate Communication at Tabrani Hospital, Ian Machyar, Monday (10/5/2021).

Tengku Zulkarnain has been treated since May 2, 2021 because he is positive for Corona. He was treated at Tabrani Hospital Pekanbaru.

“He entered our hospital on May 2. We are obliged to be handled by anyone who enters. That is clear as the governor’s order, we are the hospital designated as a referral hospital. We do our best to be treated,” said Director of Corporate Communications at Tabrani Hospital, Ian. Machyar, told reporters, Monday (10/5).

He said Tengku Zulkarnain was in stable condition when he first entered the hospital. According to him, Tengku Zulkarnain did not have other diseases.

“When he entered, his condition was positive, his health was stable. There were no other illnesses,” he said.

Tengku Zulkarnain was declared exposed to COVID after carrying out a PCR swab at Tabrani Hospital. At that time, he planned to return to Medan, North Sumatra.

“He plans to return to Medan the next day. Found out positive because swab wants to return to Medan. So swab for travel,” said Ian.

Besides being known as a lecturer, Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain is also active on social media, especially Twitter.

The man who is often called Tengku Zul is a religious cleric of Deli Malay and Riau blood.

Tengku Zul served as Deputy Secretary-General of the Leadership Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in 2015-2020.

Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain was born in Medan, North Sumatra, on August 14, 1963. Although he was born in Medan, this 57 year old man has Deli and Riau Malay descent. He studied S1 at the University of North Sumatra majoring in English Literature.

After taking his graduate education from his undergraduate education, Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain then studied Fiqh from his professor, namely Shaykh Dahlan Musa (Fiqih) and Al-Quran knowledge from Shaykh Azro’i Abdul Rauf. In addition, Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain received his Master’s degree, namely Master of Business at the Institute Economy of Hawaii.

Besides actively lecturing in 13 countries, Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain is also involved in Islamic education by serving as Chairman of the Fatwa Council for PP Mathla’ul Anwar. In addition, Ustaz Tengku Zulkarnain has also produced a book entitled ‘Misunderstanding: Answers to A’a Gym’s Red Rapot Book’.
