Offensive lineman Parker coogan reportedly dies

We just heard reports  that former go columbia lions culionsfb offensive Parker coogan has passed away.

Parker coogan  was born in  Kingwood, Texas.

In over four-years of his career, he played in 32 career games with 30 starts on the offensive line at both right guard and center, Two-time All-Ivy League honorable mention selection (2018 and 2019) .

Two-time CoSIDa Academic All-District honoree (2017 and 2019). He  concluded his career after having started 30 consecutive games (10 at right guard in 2017 and 20 at center in 2018-19) on the offensive line.

Four-year letterman:

Versatile offensive lineman,  Made five career solo tackles on offense.

All-Ivy League selection as Columbia’s starting center as a senior … Third Team All-Ivy League selection by Phil Steele Magazine.

Parker earned CoSIDa Academic All-District honors for the second time in his career. In  2019 Fall Academic All-Ivy League selection … Named the team’s Jack Armstrong Most Outstanding Lineman Award at team banquet … NFF Hampshire Academic Honor Society honoree … Started all 10 games as a senior offensive lineman … Played in virtually every snap as Columbia’s starting center before an injury sidelined him in the season finale at Cornell (Nov. 23) … Named preseason Second Team All-Ivy League honors by Phil Steele Magazine … Made two solo tackles on offense.

Honorable Mention All-Ivy League selection as Columbia’s starting center as a junior … Third Team All-Ivy League selection by Phil Steele Magazine … Started and played in all 10 games at center on the offensive line … CoSIDa Academic All-District nominee … Part of an Lions offensive line that allowed just 19.0 sacks for 126 yards in 2018, which ranks as the second lowest opponent total in school history … Lions offensive line allowed zero sacks at Brown (Nov. 10) and only 1.0 sack in four games (Cornell, Nov. 17; Marist, Oct. 6; at Georgetown, Sept. 22; at Central Connecticut, Sept. 15).

In 2017 he became one of three Lions to earn CoSIDa Academic All-District honors … Started all 10 games as a sophomore right guard … Made three solo tackles on offense (at Marist, Penn and vs. Harvard) … Made first career start on the offensive line in season opener vs. Wagner (Sept. 16).

In 2016 he earned varsity letter as a first-year offensive lineman, Served as the backup center … Played in two games off the bench: at Georgetown (Sept. 24) and vs. Cornell (Nov. 12) … Traveled to most away games … Saw first collegiate game action at Georgetown (Sept. 24).

In 2016 he graduated out from Kingwood High School in Kingwood, Texas, where he played three years of varsity football for head coach Barry Campbell … Two-time First Team All-District honoree … Two-time Academic All-District selection (First Team as a senior and Second Team as a junior) … Played guard on the offensive line and defensive tackle for the Mustangs … Named team captain his senior year … Led Kingwood to a 6-5 overall record.

Also he competed in track and field throws … Personal record in the shot put was a 49-4 ½ throw as a senior at the UIL 6A District meet … Honored as a National Merit Scholar.

Born Parker Mason Coogan on May 28, 1997 Son of Tim and Amy Coogan.

He has a brother Alexander who attends the University of Alabama, Parents both attended the University of Texas … Chose Columbia over a scholarship offer from Air Force.

He Enrolled at Columbia College … Majors in Economics.
