British Wine Expert, Steven Spurrier Dies At 80

British wine expert and the former merchant who has been described as a champion of French wine, Steven Spurrier has reportedly passed away at the age of 80. According to reports from Academie Du Vin Library, Steve died today March 9 2021 in his home at Bride Valley, surrounded by family.

Announcing his death via their Twitter page they described him as a pioneer in wine.

In a series of tweets they wrote – Steven Spurrier died, earlier today. He was at home, at Bride Valley, surrounded by family. Steven was a pioneer in wine – a visionary who never lost his passion for new projects, new discoveries and the world of wine. He will be sorely missed by all of us. 9th March 2021.

He will always be remembered for founding the Académie du Vin, the celebrated Judgement of Paris and in recent years, the Académie du Vin Library and, together with his wife Bella, the Bride Valley Vineyard in Dorset, England – as well as so much else.
