Suspected suicide bomber kills self and 4 others in a village government office in southern China



At least four persons have lost their lives following a suicide bombing at a government office in a village located in southern China, authorities say, with a rare violent social outcry.

The bomber who is a 59-year-old man suspected of carrying out an explosive device was also killed in the blast and many others were seriously injured.

The incident took place on Monday morning near the southern city of Guangzhou in the small village of Mingin, which has a population of about 3,000 and is the site of a major property reconstruction project that involves relocating locals.

A video posted on the Jiemian news website shows the ruined office with blood strewn on the walls and two people standing motionless on the ground.

According to local media, the blast took place in the office of the village committee, which decides on land use issues.
