Italy says they are going to start the vaccination of Covid-19 with AstraZeneca on Friday.

Revealing this on Thursday as Prime Minister Mario Draghi says that the campaign will begin in the next few hours after the European regulatory body confirmed that the immunizer from the British laboratory is “safe and effective.”

In his words, Minister Mario said: “The Italian government welcomes the statements of the EMA (European Medicines Agency). The supply of the AstraZeneca vaccine will resume from tomorrow ”, Draghi said in a statement.

“The government’s priority continues to be to carry out the greatest number of vaccinations in the shortest period of time possible,” said the Italian president.

The Italian Drug Agency (AIFA) confirmed this Thursday that “the reasons for the precautionary ban on the use of batches of vaccines, issued on March 15, 2021, no longer exist”, after listening to the Minister of Health, the General Directorate of Prevention and the Higher Health Council.

Starting tomorrow, the vaccination campaign will resume in Italy in a “complete” way, and when the EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) publishes the endorsement of the AstraZeneca vaccine, the AIFA will revoke the ban on its use. .

Italy has already reached 7,204,358 doses inoculated against the coronavirus, while 2,225,652 people have been immunized with the two necessary.
