Prominent members of the United States Democratic Party, including the leader of the Senate Democrats, Chuck Summer, have demanded that the governor of the state, Andrew Cuomo to resign from his position following accusations of sexual harassment presented by six women throughout over the last few days and from which Cuomo has completely disassociated himself.

the governor was accused of sexual harassments involving multiple women, Cuomo has preferred to maintain the anonymity of the alleged victim, who would continue to work for the Cuomo government team, who would have touched him inappropriately during a work meeting that both kept in his official residence at the end of last year.

For his part, Cuomo has assured not to have knowledge of any new accusation against him but has insisted that he “never” touched anyone “in an inappropriate way” and that no one made him know of his “discomfort”.He said he has assured that he has been “chosen by the people” and assuring that he will not resign, according to the Politico portal.

“Women have the right to step up and be heard and I fully support that. But I also want to be clear, there is also a question about the truth. I have not done what they say. Point”. He has tried to settle the debate.

This is not the first time the governor has denied the possibility of resignation.

“There are two investigations underway… Let them be done! I am not going to discuss this matter in the press, things are not done that way, it is not the way it should be done ”, he pointed out.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Summer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand issued a joint statement on Friday demanding Cuomo’s resignation.

In the statement, Democrats have mentioned that “due to multiple credible allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct, it is clear that Governor Cuomo has lost the trust of his ruling partners and the people of New York” and that therefore, “Governor Cuomo should resign.”

They also added that “they praised the courageous actions of the people who have brought the serious allegations of abuse and misconduct” towards Cuomo.
