French Dancer, Patrick Dupond Is Dead

Popular French dancer, Patrick Dupond whose popularity grew in 1976 after winning the gold medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition in Bulgaria has passed away. The news of his death was confirmed on social media today.

The family reported that the Star dancer died on March 5, 2021, after a brief illness, just a few days to his 62nd birthday.

On March 5 2020 Patrick nearly lost his life in a serious auto crash.

In 1980, he was named principal dancer of the Opera national de Paris and which saw much of his success in France.

He worked with eminent dancers such as Rudolf Nureyev, Maurice Béjart or Alvin Ailey, then in 1990 became the dance director of the ballet of the Opéra national de Paris, succeeding Nureyev.
